Modern processes concerned with the increasing of anthropogenesis influence on the natural environment made the problem of natural world preservation particularly actual. Recently, the world community has been showing deep concern with the ecological problems  The UNO Summit on Climate Change in Copenhagen (Denmark), where the world leaders tried to find the ways for changing ecological situation in the world, is a good evidence of this.
During the past ten years, the ecology has been becoming more and more meaningful in human’s life.  Such concepts as ecology of food, ecological way of life and eco-tourism have appeared and strengthened.
So far, the level of the ecological culture of the society has considerably grown. Comprehensive highlighting of the environmental problems by mass media promotes this.
Ecology-dedicated competitions are organized for  children and youth. We presented a detailed description of the competition of children’s drawings ‘Children’s Look at the Waste’ on our site.
The film industry has also taken notice of ecology. Thus, under the patronage of the Greek Ministry of Culture, the Rhodes Cultural Organization and Image & Environment Society with the support of the Dodecanese Prefecture Cultural Organization, the Rhodes Cinema Society, the Greek Film Center declared the beginning of accepting applications for the participation in the 8th Annual Festival of Environment Protection Documentary Films. The Festival will be held in Rhodes (Greece) from 22 to 27 June 2010. The Festival shall accept the documentary films dedicated to ecology and environmental protection issues, as well as those appealing to save natural resources. The terms of the competition require that the film should be shot not earlier than 1 January 2009. The deadline for accepting the applications is 1 March 2010.
The Rhodes International Films + Visual Arts Festival Ecofilms have founded awards for the most outstanding works by the following categories: full-length films, mid-length films, short-length films. The Rhodes Cinema Society has also founded two Audience Choice Awards.
If you wish to take part in the Festival, you should send a film copy to the address of the short listing Commission. There is an essential condition: your film must have the English subtitles!
The jury of the Festival consists of famous producers, journalists, film directors, script writers and  young talented specialists in field of film industry awarded at competitions and festivals.
