Wealth and diversity of flora of Uzbekistan , the peculiarities of plants’ adaptation to arid severe living conditions further formation of the original direction of botany in our country- the research of the ecological interaction of a plant organism and the environment, based on studying its structure in the conditions of natural habitat. The Scientific and Production Centre ‘Botany’ of the Academy of Science of the Republic of Uzbekistan researches these problems. In his time Jura Kamalovich Saidov an academician of the Academy of the Academy of Science of the Republic of Uzbekistan laid the foundation of this direction. Today the Republican Scientific Conference on the ‘Modern Problems of Structural Botany’ dedicated to the centennial anniversary of academician J.K. Saidov was held in the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Science of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The botanical school founded by academician J.K. Saidov reported on the work it had carried out and defined perspective directions of the researching wild plants and their adaptation to dry and arid living conditions. Old and eminent scientists shared their rich scientific experience with their young colleagues, spoke about development of steppe zone with the help of artificial sowings of wild plants which can be used for raising productivity of natural pasture. The presentations made by young scientists attracted attention of the conference participants. They spoke about methods of cultivating some species of medicinal plants, their importance for development of the pharmaceutical industry of Uzbekistan. The presentation made by D.Edgorov and D. Alimdjanov who said about influence of heavy metals on fruit plants attracted particular attention of the audience. The presentation made by D.Usupov and L. Streltsov on the influence of salinity composition of soil on the growth and development of some species of wild plants also raised interest of the conference participants. All reports of the Republican Scientific Conference were published in the special collection, which was presented to the participants.
