On 15 January 2010 the summing up and solemn awarding ceremony of the competition winners ‘The Best Rural School on ecological education and upbringing’ took place in the convention hall of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan.
All schools of Uzbekistan that wanted to announce about their work in the field of ecological education and upbringing could participate in the Republican competition. By organized word, about 100 applications were sent. After short listing based on the approved criteria only 26 schools from different provinces passed to the final stage of the competition.
The Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan, the State Committee for Nature Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Public Education, the National Association of Non-governmental Non-profit Organizations and the International Public Charitable FUND (ECOSAN) were organizers and founders of this competition. The competition was held within the framework of the State Program ‘The Year of Rural Development and Improvement’ and aimed at raise of ecological culture, awareness of population, strengthening rural schools’ activity on formation of the ecological culture.
The competent jury comprising specialists in the field of ecology and representatives of the specialized organizations named the winners of the competition. Thus the honorary title ‘The Best Rural School on Ecological Education and Upbringing’ went to the following schools:
- School № 15 of the Yangikurgan district of the Khoresm Province took the first place
- School № 16 of the Termez district of the Surkhandaria Province took the second place
- School № 15 of the Peshkun district of the Bukhara Province took the third place
- School № 39 of the Kanimekh district of the Navoi Province and also school
№ 71 of the Khojeyliy district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan took the fourth and fifth places correspondingly.
The winners received diplomas and prizes from organizers and sponsors of the competition. The modern computers and other office equipment necessary for work were sent to the schools that took the first and second places.
All schools – winners of the competition received complete set of the modern scientific and educational literature on ecology and environment protection prepared by ENK ‘Chinor’ and a lot of teaching and methodological literature published by ‘Bioecosan’.
The deputies of the Legislative Chamber took part in work of the jure at the third final stage of the competition and in the solemn awarding ceremony.
The organizers said that such competitions will be held in future and schools from all provinces of Uzbekistan will participate in it.
