Problems of Biodiversity of the Southern Aral Sea Region
The Karakalpak Branch of the Academy of Science of the republic Uzbekistan and the Institute of Bio-ecology organize the 3rd International Scientific and Practical Conference ‘The Problems of Efficient Use and Protection of the Biological Resources of the Southern Aral Sea Region’ in Nukus, Republic of Karakalpakstan on 13-14 May. Heads and employees of scientific institutions and enterprises, scientific workers, employees of educational departments, post-graduates, students of master’s course are invited to participate in this conference.
The Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Southern Regional Scientific Center and the Institute of Water Problems of the Academy of Science of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Hokimiyat of the Kashkadarya province, the Karshi Institute of Engineering and Economy, the Kashkadarya Province Committee for Nature Protection and the province branch of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan organize the Republican scientific and technical conference ‘Actual Problems of Provision of Water-sustainability’, that will be held in Karshi on 20-21November 2010. The problems of the theory and practice of water-sustainability of arid territories, hydrology of rivers, lakes and reservoirs, melioration hydrology, hydro-chemistry and hydro-ecology, complex use and protection of water resources (integrated water management) will be considered at the conference.
The 3rd International Fair of innovative ideas, technologies and projects has finished. The agreements were concluded, the contracts were signed, the joint plants and measures were discussed. Such forums create productive platform for business meeting and exchange of opinions and also give young scientists an opportunity to present themselves and their activity. The meeting of the correspondent of the’Ekologichesky Vestnik’ journal with the young perspective scientists of the Namangan State University was not accidental. Not only their deserving notice exposition, but also the interesting teaching and methodological development on energy saving and environment preservation attracted our attention. The multimedia electronic text-book is intended for the teaching course in ‘Energy Saving and Fundamentals of Ecology’ for pre-school institutions and primary forms of general schools.
Careful, coordinated and qualified actions help to save hundreds of human lives when the crisis situations concerned with catastrophes and natural calamities happen. The experience of prevention and localization of danger natural phenomena is also important.
Over 50 civil and military officials of the health care bodies from Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Germany and USA took part in the four-day seminar devoted to the problems in the field of health care of the countries – members of the seminar. Senior civil and military experts in the area of emergency medicine and disaster medicine, prophylactic medicine in armed forces and public health were among the participants of this conference.
On 17-18 March 2010 St. Petersburg will host the 4th International Conference ‘Waste Recycling’ devoted to waste recycling. This conference will start its work already for the third time within the framework of the business program of the international forum ‘Big City Ecology’. The event will consist of two parts: topical sections in the Exhibition Complex ‘Lenexpo’ (7th pavilion, on 17 March) on subjects ‘Waste Burial Dumps: from Research to Re-cultivation’, ‘Waste-sorting Complexes’, ‘Equipment for Sorting’, Equipment for Recycling of Production and Consumption Waste’, as well as excursions to operating enterprises in St. Petersburg (18 March).
The weather on the first day of spring was as damp and dull as on the last days of winter. The car was running along grey streets of the town in rain. Sweepers were trying to remove the rubbish, thrown by careless citizens, were seen through the car’s window. As the bright contrast – a territory with modal cleanness, order, regular flower-beds and garden pleasing the eye tired of city rubbish and trash. Here the brief of spring can already be felt.
Today the presentation on the ‘Globalization of the Ecological Problems’ was made for the officers stuff in headquarters of the Main Department of the Guard Forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The report was supported with the slides. The lecturer tried to highlight all global ecological problems and also the local problems. The lecturer in detail spoke about the work that is carried out in the field of resolution of ecological problems by the State Committee for Nature Protection and other ministries and departments of Uzbekistan and also about the low-making activity and international cooperation in the area of environment protection.
Economic development of the Republic of Uzbekistan is based on creation of conditions for rising science-intensive, high-technology industry, including: creation of conditions for the sustainable development of small innovative business; efficient use of the scientific and technical capacity of scientific, research and project designing organizations of the Republic with the purpose of resolution of the actual problems of economic and social development of the country; rendering assistance to rising investment and innovative activity of enterprises, attraction of investment into broadening of innovative activity. For this, the regularly working platform where investment demand meets with proposals in the innovative area, the place for direct business contacts of innovators and investors of innovative ideas is needed. The Republican Fair of innovative ideas, technologies and projects has become such place.
In view of declaration of 2010 the ‘Year of the Harmoniously Developed Generation‘, the National University of Uzbekistan named after M. Ulugbek, the Tashkent Province Committee for Nature Protection, the children organization ‘Kamalak’ of the Public Movement of Youth ‘Kamolot’ and the non-governmental non-profit organization (NNO) ‘Ekomaktab’ with the support of the Public Fund for Support of NNO and other Institutions of Civil Society under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan announced the competition ‘Water- the Source of Life’. The competition is timed for the World Day of Water that is annually celebrated on 22 March. The students of the academic lyceums named after S. Kh. Sirojiddinov, S. Rakhimov and Zangiota at the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek can take part in this competition.
