On 9 February 2010 a round table discussion of the draft Low of the Republic of Uzbekistan ‘On Ecological Control’ was held in Tashkent with the support of the State Committee for Nature Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Leading specialists of the authorized state bodies, representatives of public ecological organizations and mass media took part in the round table talk. During this event there were mentioned that presented draft low took into account the proposals made at working meetings, seminars and round table (August 2009) on strengthening effectiveness of ecological control. In particular, taking into consideration economic and social aspects of economic development of the country, adoption of the Low ‘On Ecological Control’ has become really necessary for improvement of environment quality. Preparation of this bill is being implemented within the framework of the Program of Actions on Environment Protection in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2008-2012 approved by the Cabinet of Ministers (Resolution №212 dated 19 September 2008). Adoption of such low should raise the effectiveness of state ecological control, broaden the possibilities of community. During the discussions it was said that organs of state ecological control (ecological inspections) working at the crossing point of state, users of natural resources and public interests, should improve material and technical equipment of control system. The participants recommended for solving the problem of training of specialists in the field of ecological control to found the Center of environment protection inspectors training under the State Committee for Nature Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan. At this Center state and public inspectors can improve their qualification. All comments and proposals made at the round table talk during a seven days period will be sent to the State Committee for Nature Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other authorized organs.
