The Global Climate Week

 
 

 

 

The week starting from 21th.September has been named by the United Nations as «The Global Climate Week» coincide with the UN's Secretary-General's High Level Summit on Climate Change on 22 September 2009. This important week and the lead-up weekend will be marked by synchronized activities in more than 100 cities to urge world leaders to seal a fair and effective climate agreement at the UN Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen this December.

Global Climate Week aims at uniting efforts, whether individual or collective, calling for urgent action to combat climate change – the greatest challenge of our time.

This tradition has become since 1994, when the UN General Assembly proclaimed 16 September the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, commemorating the signing of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. Under this agreement, participating countries should reduce and completely stop the production of ozone-depleting substances (ODS).

Environmental Youth camp

 
 

 

In late August, in the tract Hodzhikent, based on children's health camp "geologist" was Youth Environmental Mining and tourism camp "Ekoland-2009".

Summer eco-tourism youth camps "Ekoland" project carried out since 2000 by a coalition eco-tourism clubs Youth Eko parlament. Every year for the program selects a new "wild place" where planned eco-regional study to examine the nature, its laws and the development of skills for sustainable environmental management. One of the basic principles of the project is "education through work and skills of self-organization and management.

September 10 at the State Committee Geology and Mineral Resources Republic of Uzbekistan was opened II International Conference «Investment potential of solid minerals of Uzbekistan». International conference was attended by representatives of the Cabinet Council Republic of Uzbekistan, international conference was attended by representatives of various ministries and departments, companies, as well as scientists and journalists, total number of participants amounted to more than 200 people
International conference was opened by Chairman of State Committee Geology and Mineral Resources of Uzbekistan, Nariman Mavlyanov. Welcoming speeches were delivered – responsible representative  of the Information and Analytical Department under the Cabinet Council Republic of Uzbekistan, Ravshan Mamatkadyrovich Mamadaliev, director of the company «Shindong Enerkom Inc..» (Korea), the head of the joint venture «Uzshindong Silicon» Kim Yun-sik and chief of the joint venture «Bentonite» (Uzbekistan-Switzerland) Rakhimova Suraie.

During the celebration of Independence Day Republic of Uzbekistan and the anniversary of the city Tashkent. To townsmans delight in Tashkent zoo were imported from Malaysia 36 animals 8 species. Among them are Javanese macaques (Macaca fascicularis), pig-tailed macaque (Macaca nemestrina), langur (Trachypithecus jbcurus), Gibbon (Hylobates Lar), Binturong (Arctictis binturong), Malayan bear (Helarctos malayanus), Lory (Nicticebus coucand), Mandrill (Mandrillus sphinx). At present, they were organized special permanent zoological and veterinary supervision.
That's what told us about some new species of exotic and rare animals, imported from Malaysia, Head of the scientific department of the Tashkent Zoo Tatiana Goncharova.
