The Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan pays a great attention to the youth, raising its activity in resolution of ecological problems of the country. On 24 December 2009 the meeting of the Youth Wing (YW) of the Eco-movement was held in the office of Eco-movement. During this meeting the performance results of YW for 2009 were summarized and priority directions of activity for 2010 – ‘The Year of Harmoniously Developed Generation’ were defined. In 2009 the YW of Eco-movement carried out a great work in the field of protection of the environment and health of population. Jointly with the State Committee for Nature Protection, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education and the International Fund ‘Ecosan’, the Youth wing of Eco-movement is working out the system of continuous ecological education and upbringing of the population of Uzbekistan, six working teams have been founded on main directions of the activity with the purpose of development of proposals on foundation of the system. The system work onarrangement of cooperation with the national mass media, that aims at raising the level of knowledge and awareness of the population about ecological problems and searching ways of the their overcoming is being implemented. Jointly with the Representative Office of the Regional Ecological Center of Central Asian Countries of Uzbekistan the practice of sending the representatives of Eco-movement for training to the Regional School of Young Leaders on the environment protection is started. The competition ‘The Best Rural School on Ecological Education and Upbringing’ was held by Eco-movement in joint efforts with the State Committee for Nature Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Public Education, the National Association of non-governmental and non-profit organizations of Uzbekistan and the International Fund ‘Ecosan’ within the framework of assistance to implementation of the State Program ‘The Year of Rural Development and Improvement’. The competitions concerned with the problem of domestic waste and scientific and practical conference ‘Public Participation and the Optimum Ways of Resolution of Domestic Waste Problems’,in which the results of above mentioned competitions were summed up, were held with active participation of the Youth Wing of the Eco-movement. The great attention is paid to the problem of involving volunteers into implementation of the plans and projects on improvement of ecological situation and health of the population in regions of the Republic. Currently, the youth initiative groups on the priority direction of Eco-movement’s activity are being formed. As the result of ecological action carried out under the massage of ‘If planted a tree, grow it’, the garden was created in the Bastanlik district of the Tashkent province. Hundreds of tree’s seedlings were planted in settlements of the Republic. The Youth Forum ‘Extreme against Drugs’ was jointly held with the Fund ‘Soglom Avlod Uchun’. Preparation work on carrying out the competitions ‘The most Effective Association of Water Users (AWU)’, the ‘Best Rural doctor’s Point’ was implemented. On 5 June – the World Day of Environment Protection the holiday event was jointly organized with the State Committee for Nature Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Representatives Office of the United Nation Development Program (UNDP) with the support the ecological organization ‘Uzbeknavo’ in the park named after G.Gulyam of Tashkent. During the traditional Festival ‘Chimgan echo-2009’ on 12-14 June the ecological action ‘We are for Clean Chimgan’ on cleaning territory of the natural boundary from domestic waste was organized at the territory of Ugam-Chatkal National Park. Pupils of schools, students of higher educational institutions, representatives of non-governmental and non-profit organizations were involved in this action. Especial notice is taken to ecological education and upbringing of the youth, resting in summer camps. For example, the project ‘Eco-land – 2009’ was implemented at the territory of Ugam-Chatcal National Park. Within the framework of this project groups of children and teenagers were trained the skills of eco-tourism and mountaineering. On 21 November 2009 the Youth Wing of Eco-movement of Uzbekistan in joint efforts with the Public Council under Interstate Commission for Sustainable Development (ICSD) and the Youth Ecological Network of Uzbekistan hold the round table talk on ‘Role of the Community in Resolution of the Climate Change Problem’. Specialist of lane ministries and departments, representatives of international organizations, scientific community, public and mass media participated in this round table talk. The participants discussed the position of public organizations and state bodies on the problem of climate change. The Address of the representatives of Uzbekistan community to the Interstate Commission for Sustainable Development, that was declared at the session of the ICSD in Tashkent (30 November 2009) had become the result of the meeting. As it known, the President of Uzbekistan declared 2010 the ‘Year of Harmoniously Developed Generation’. And so the Youth Wing of the Eco-movement plans to organized different contests among the youth, to carry out trainings and seminars and the International Exhibition ‘Green Technologies’, to found ‘Green Patrols’ consisting of active youth ( currently the work on the conception is carrying out) and to implement other actions.
